From the Residents

Demarcus, former resident

“This place is like one in a million, it kept me alive and kept me out of trouble – at IFH I learned I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. After a while, they brought a side our of me I didn’t know I had; I’m actually a nice person”

David, former resident

“The healing begins when the homeless men and women living there come to believe that they are safe, that people genuinely care about them, and that they can finally let down their guard long enough to think about where they are going with their life.”

Leonard, former resident

“Interfaith House has made me much more aware. I want to get back out in the world but this time, I want to do it right.”

Eugene, former resident

“I’m from the North Side of Chicago and from Cabrini Green. I’m from the West Side of Chicago. K-town. I’m from the juvenile home and parental homes. I’m from the Illinois State Training School for Boys, and from forestry camp in Marseilles, Illinois. I am from the House of Corrections, County Jail, and the state penitentiary. I am from Washington Elementary School, Crane High School, and Logan Constitutional School. I am from School fights and street fights. Today is different. Today, I’m from Interfaith House.”
